It’s been almost a year since my last post.
One of the things you can be most certain about when blogging is that at some point the blog will die. The internet is littered with blogs and sites that have been a hive of activity, only to fade into obscurity once the initial wave of euphoria of posting updates wears off.
Today was the national election in South Africa, and I’m proud to say that I did my duty, and voted after standing for over an hour in a queue. It makes me really overjoyed to see how far my country has come with people willing to brave the heat, and long queues to have their say in where our country is heading.
The frequency of posts has certainly taken a hit over the last two or so years, and for those of you wondering what exactly has been going on, and why I’ve been so quiet, I thought I’d write a bit about what exactly happened the last few years.
Currently in the process of moving my blog posts over from Wordpress to this Jekyll blog hosted on GitHub with Netlify.
Well that was a bit of a break from writing now wasn’t it!
Life has been busy busy busy the last few months (nearly a year!) and this is the first time in ages that I can just take a short break and sit down to reflect on the last few months.
For the last few years, I’ve been using Linux as my main OS on almost all my PCs, with some brief dalliances with FreeBSD and macOS. Recently, my ancient desktop PC has been sorely in need of a stable and customizable Linux distribution. After numerous hopping between distros, I finally settled on Debian.
For the past few months Debian 10 has been running my desktop and has given me nary a problem. Everything works perfectly, and it runs on fumes with almost no memory usage when compared to beefier desktop environments such as GNOME.
Quite a while back I made a list of my favourite podcasts, and with the ever-changing landscape of podcasts in the interim, I thought it might be worth highlighting my all-time favourite podcast show, The Adventure Zone.
The Adventure Zone is an actual play podcast that uses various RPG systems, such as Dungeons and Dragons, to present a fun and interesting campaign played amongst the three McElroy brothers and their father.
Just a quick follow up from my previous post to highlight two covers that have immediately caught my eye and might be worth your hard-earned money if you’re looking to start using a techo in 2022.
With August halfway through, it’s that time of year when the preview for the 2022 Hobonichi planner is released. I’ve blogged numerous times before on my obsession with this Japanese planner, and this year will be no exception.
This is always my favourite time of the year, because I get to see a month full of articles about the various covers, collaborations and some interesting interviews about the upcoming 2022 line-up. The actual sales will start over three days: September 1, 2 and 3.
With more time on my hands, I’ve been enjoying a resurgence in my gaming time. I’ve already talked about the huge amount of time I’ve sunk into Rocket League, but today I want to talk about how lockdown has rekindled my love of JRPGs.
